抗擊仇視亞裔風潮 本報舉辦中英文徵文比賽

從2020年初新冠疫情在美國爆發以來,三藩市灣區乃至全美華裔和亞太裔社區遭受的歧視和仇視罪案層出不窮,根據全國民權組織聯盟「停止仇視亞太裔」的報告,從2020年3月19日至2022年3月31日收到了11,467宗仇視亞太裔報告。本報特舉辦抗擊仇視亞裔風潮中英文比賽,持續喚起社區關注及警戒,共同對抗仇視。本次徵文比賽獲加州州立圖書館贊助經費。

徵文比賽各項規定如下:

作品內容: 描述遭遇針對亞太裔的仇視和/或參與反仇視運動的經歷和體會,或分析評論如何反抗仇視。

獎項:

中文組:面向在美以中文寫作者。頭等獎1名獎金$1000,二等獎1名獎金$800,三等獎1名獎金$500。

英文組:面向15至24歲在讀中學生及大學生。頭等獎1名獎金$1000,二等獎1名獎金$800,三等獎1名獎金$500。

按評審團決定或可設優秀獎若干。

評審:星島日報編輯部及本地社區領袖代表組成的評審團。

收件、截稿日期:

1. 自2022年9月20日至11月10日截止。

2.一律採網路投稿,請電郵到[email protected]

3. 中文稿件繁體中文書寫,Word檔,12號新細明體(PMingLiU 12),700字至1500字。英文稿件Word檔,12號Times New Roman字體, 600字至1200字。

4. 稿件首頁右上角請註明字數。

5. 文章稿件上,不得註明作者姓名或任何可以辨認身份之記號。

6. 另須附上單獨一頁,寫上真實姓名、通訊地址、電郵信箱、聯絡電話。

7. 資料不足、違反上列規定者,將不予受理,也不退稿。所有作品一律匿名送給評審委員審閱。

8. 公布日期:預定2022年11月公布得獎名單。

9. 頒獎日期:預定2022年11月底,時間地點另擇期通知。

注意事項:

1. 得獎及優秀作品將在《星島日報》美西版刊登,不另支付稿酬。

2. 參加徵文的作品,必須未曾在任何報章雜誌、網絡等發表、公開展示或出版過。

3. 嚴禁抄襲,經發現者立即取消參賽、得獎資格。

4. 同一人只能參加一個項目,違規者取消資格。本報訊

 

 

Fight AAPI Hate Chinese & English Essay Contest

Hosted by Sing Tao Daily (Western Edition), with funding provided by California State Library.

Theme: Chinese and the broad AAPI communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and U.S. have been facing discrimination and bias since the early state of the COVID-19 pandemic and have been disproportionately affected by the Anti-Asian Hate crimes and incidents. Stop AAPI Hate, a national coalition that tracks anti-Asian attacks, has documented 11,467 hate incidents against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community between March 19, 2020, and March 31, 2022. This essay contest aims to continue raising awareness and promoting education and outreach to our community to combat the hate.

Essay Types :

Narrative (personal experiences of being the target of AAPI Hate, and/or participation in Stop AAPI Hate movement) or Argumentative (how to fight AAPI Hate)

Award:

Chinese essay: open to all who live in the United States and write in Chinese. First Place (one): $1000; Second Place (one): $800; Third Place (one):$500.

English essay: open to 15 to 24 years old who are currently enrolled in middle schools, high schools or colleges/universities. First Place (one): $1000; Second Place (one): $800; Third Place(one): $500.

Honorable mention awards for both categories if deemed appropriate by the judging panel.

Judging: A judging panel will be composed of Sing Tao Daily (Western Edition) Editorial Department representatives and community leaders.

Submission and deadline:

1. The contest will open from September 20, 2022 to November 10, 2022.

2. Submission only accepted by email to [email protected].

3. Traditional Chinese ONLY for Chinese essay category, please submit in Word documents with font PMing LiU and size 12, word count requirement is 700 to 1500. For English essay category, please submit in Word document with font Times New Roman and size 12. Word count requirement is 600 to 1200.

4. Note word count at the top right corner of the first page.

5. No name or any other identifiable information of the author on the essay document.

6. Provide author’s legal name, mailing address, email and phone number in another document, separate from the essay document.

7. Any submission without the above mentioned complete information will not be accepted. No return of the submission. All submission, without author’s identification, will be sent to judging panel to judge.

8. Contest winner will be announced on Sing Tao Daily (Western Edition) in Novermber 2022.

9. Award ceremony will be held in late November 2022, details will be announced at a later date.

Additional Rules:

1. All award winning essays will be published by Sing Tao Daily (Western Edition). No other monetary compensation will be issued.

2. All submitting essays must be original and have not been published or displayed by any newspapers, magazines or any Internet platforms.

3. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Those committed plagiarism will be disqualified to participate and any award will be forfeited.

4. One entry per person and in one category only, violators will be disqualified.
